Department of Cranial, General, Tumor, and Vascular Neurosurgery

The Department of General, Tumor, and Vascular Cranial Neurosurgery, led by Prof. Emmanuel Jouanneau, is one of three adult neurosurgery departments in Lyon and brings together expertise across various fields of cranial surgery.

Each neurosurgeon develops specialized expertise in a specific area to optimize the quality of patient care. Clinical activity is structured around five sub-specialty areas. The management of primary and secondary brain tumors is one of these areas. Highly specific intraoperative techniques—such as fluorescence-guided surgery, awake surgery for tumor resection, and intracavitary chemotherapy—are employed.

Dr. Thiébaud Picart and Dr. Clémentine Gallet, who work in partnership with him, lead this area of ​​specialization.
